Complete List of Central Universities in India
Central Universities in India are headed by a Vice-Chancellor, who is the chief executive officer of the university. The Vice-Chancellor is appointed by the President of India, who is also the Visitor of all Central Universities. The Central Universities are run by the Ministry of Education (formerly the Ministry of Human Resource Development), Government of India.
Each Central University has its own governing body, typically known as the Executive Council or Board of Governors, which oversees the administration, finances, and academic policies. The governing body includes representatives from the academic and administrative staff, the government, and other stakeholders.
Additionally, the Central Universities are established and governed by Acts of Parliament, which outline the powers, functions, and responsibilities of the university administration, including the Vice-Chancellor and other officers.

Founded in 1926 under the Madras University Act, Andhra University was established to serve the linguistic region of Andhra Pradesh as a residential, multi-disciplinary teaching-cum-affiliating university. The institution was led by its visionary founder Vice-Chancellor, Sir C.R. Reddy, followed by Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who later became the second Vice-Chancellor.
